James Mitchell touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. He was predeceased by: his wife Betty Green Blackwood; and his parents, James Coleman Blackwood and Nena Retta Blackwood. He is survived by: his daughters, Patti Lovelady (Rob) and Cathy Bodley (Greg); his granddaughter Carrie Bonham (Steven); his great grandchildren, Brady Bonham, Cooper Bonham and Kenzie Bonham; and his sister Donna Woods (Steve).

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Austinville United Methodist Church (908 Lamar Street SW Decatur, AL 35601) or Decatur Senior Center (P.O. Box 591 Decatur, AL 35602).
