Roselawn Funeral Home & Roselawn CemeteryReverend Charles Wayne Smith, born on December 6th, 1942 entered into his heavenly Father's presence on May 10th 2024. He was the beloved son of Guy H Smith and Mary Bertha Smith.
Preceding him in death were his parents, along with his brother, Guy S. Smith, and sister, Edna Ruth Johnson.
Surviving him is his cherished wife, Sandra Jackson Smith, and his two sons: Guy W. Smith, with his wife Leigh, and Tyler Smith, with his wife Beth. He leaves behind a legacy carried on by his four grandchildren: Nicole, Austin (Heather), Shane, and Shyanne Smith, as well as three great-grandchildren: Jay, Hunter Charles, and Mauldin. Additionally, he is fondly remembered by his bonus granddaughters Lily Chretien and Emily Davis, with her husband Cole, and his bonus great-grandson Emmett.
Having faithfully served in countless church services, weddings, and funerals, Reverend Smith delivered his final sermon to his family during the recent Christmas season. He shepherded congregations across Morgan, Calhoun, and Marshall counties in Alabama. He extended his ministry to Bible conferences and revivals throughout the South, Hawaii, and New York. His passion for expository Bible teaching and preaching, along with his deep interest in eschatology, defined his life's work.
Reverend Smith pursued his education after graduating from Priceville High School, earning degrees from Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary and Samford University. Beyond his ministry, he found joy in the outdoors, indulging in his love for hunting and fishing.
As a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Reverend Smith leaves behind a legacy of love and faith. He will be dearly missed by a wide circle of friends and acquaintances, who were touched by his warmth and wisdom.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 from 10:00 am - 12:00pm at Roselawn Funeral Home with a funeral service to follow at 12:00pm. Interment will be at Roselawn Cemetery immediately following. Tommy L. Williamson and Bob Hullett to officiate.
Pallbearers will be Austin Smith, Shane Smith, Allen Johnson, Jeremiah Johnson, Wayne Phillips and Stedman Livingston.
