He is survived by: his wife Gayle Clark Merrell; his sons, Walter Marvin Merrell III (Hannah) of Andalusia and Steven David Phillips (HanMi) of Vestavia Hills; his sister Dianne Norwood of Moulton; and his grandchildren, Bay Merrell, Cape Merrell, Banks Merrell, William Phillips and Zachary Phillips. He is also survived by other loving relatives and friends.
