He was predeceased by: his parents, Oscar Jones and Mattie Pearl Baldwin of Foley, AL.; his foster parents, Samuel Sullivan Mills Sr. and Elsie Ruby Lee Mills of Daphne, AL.; and his siblings, Jerry Gray, Ora Lee West, Ella Mae Graves, Rosie Gray and Katherine Gray Brown.
He is survived by: his wife Willie Wesley Mills of Mobile, AL; his son Samuel Sullivan Mills III (Shaneka); his grandchildren, Ayden and Ethan Mills of Montgomery, AL; his stepchildren, Chester Nettles (Patricia) of Mobile, Alabama., Janie Brooks (Derry) of Mobile, Alabama. and Willie Nettles of Mobile, Alabama.; his siblings, John Gray (Annie) of Foley, AL, Romen Lee Gray of Foley, AL, Lewis Gray (Gene) of Greenbay, WI, Bertha Mae Gray of Foley, AL, Eddie Mae Royster of Milwaukee, WI, Jessie Mae Moore of Milwaukee, WI, Annie Vera Gray of Milwaukee, WI and Martha Marie McGee of Milwaukee, WI; and his foster sister Margaret Williams (Cherry Gray Heard) of Mobile, AL. He is also survived by nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
