She was predeceased by: her former husband Ray Wharton of Tuscaloosa; her husband James Marion Weldon, Jr. of Pointe Clear; her son Cary Charles Wharton; her grandson Andrew Blair Walton; her son-in-law Norman Walton; and her parents, Leander Leonard and Mattie Atkins Leonard.
She is survived by: her children, Dusty Walton of Mobile, Andy Wharton, Sr. (Susan) of Tuscaloosa and Dr. Van Wharton of Boston, MA; and her grandchildren, Dr. Christopher James Walton of Mobile, Jason Patrick Walton of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Andy Wharton, Jr. of Tuscaloosa and Joycelyn Merle Wharton of Mobile. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren.
