He was loved and cherished by many people including: his grandmother Lillian Caldwell Cox; his brother Kenneth W. Cox of Troy; his children, John H. Cox of McLean and Catherine C. Jouet of Alexandria; and also Ann Haas Cox. He was also cherished by five grandchildren.
