He was predeceased by: his parents, Julius Childers and Julia Childers. He is survived by: his wife Carolyn White Childers; his children, Kevin Childers (Christy), Kellie Dowdy (Michael) and Keith Childers (Laura); his grandchildren, Carrson Knight, Kaleb Childers, Abby McDaniel, Mason Dowdy, Keaton Childers, Olivia Anderson, Caroline Dowdy, Clara Dowdy and Kaina Childers; and his siblings, Larry Childers (Donna) and Regina. He is also survived by extended family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made in Rickey's honor to Kindred Hospice of Cullman (1015 1st Ave SW, Cullman, 256-737-7234).
