He was predeceased by: his parents, Hershel Hendrix Morton and Verna Mae Tyree Morton; his siblings, J. R. Morton and Gwen Fortenberry; and his niece Bobbie Jo Wilhite.

He is survived by: his wife Patricia Morton; his sons, Johnny Morton (Sandy), Ronald Morton and Jason Morton; his adoptive daughter Deann Link; his sister Yvonne White; his grandchildren, Michael Dye, Trent Morton and Kimberly Ann Morton; and his great grandchildren, Mali Dye, Kamden Keel, Zaylee and Addi McDonald.
