She was predeceased by: her parents, DeWitt Bell and Evelyn Bell of Birmingham, AL.; and her husband William S. Smith, Sr.. She is survived by: her children, Leigh Duke (Dennis) and William S. "Bubba" Smith, Jr. (Jessica); her brother Reverend Tom Bell (Pat); her sister-in-law Terese Costabile (Mark); her grandchildren, Greg Duke (Sarah), Chris Duke (Lexi), William Duke, Austin Smith, Ayden Smith and Andrew Smith; her great grandchildren, Sophia Duke and Nova Duke; and her close friend Jenny Skinner.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Comfort Care Hospice in Cullman in Evelyn's name, 407 4th Ave S.W. Cullman AL 35055.
