He was predeceased by: his parents, Leldon Dewey McAfee and Melva Hancock McAfee; and his brother Terry Alan McAfee. He is survived by: his wife Deborah Edge McAfee; his daughters, Amy McAfee Wood, Joy McAfee Howard (John A. Howard, Jr.) and Kelly McAfee Herndon (Matthew Bryant Herndon); his grandchildren, Olivia Rose Wood, Nicholas Lee Wood, Alexander Ross Wood, Wilson Walker Wood, Ann Daniels Howard, John Allen Howard III, Oliver McAfee Howard, Molly Roselle Herndon, Lucy Marie Herndon and Maryann Eloise Herndon; his brothers, Dwayne L. McAfee (Sally McAfee) and Phillip Craig McAfee (Angelia McAfee); his nephews, Matt McAfee, Mark McAfee, Jason McAfee and Jake McAfee; and his niece Elizabeth McAfee.
