He was predeceased by: his parents, Bobby Gaines and Nancy Gaines; his sister Tina Lynn Latta; his son Alan Gaines; his grandmother Lillie Mae Smith; and his uncle Butch Shedd.

He is survived by: his wife Karen Gaines; his children, Tanner Gaines, Eli Gaines, Brittney Gaines and LaTasha Gaines; his brother Brian Gaines (Amanda); and his granddaughters, Serenity, Peyton, Paisley and Baylee. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Doug Gaines Memorial Fund at Merchant's Bank.
