He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Matthews and Ruby Matthews; his son Jimmie Leo Matthews Jr.; his sister-in-law Gayle Turner; his nephew Mitchell Matthews; and his close friend Gary Munday.
He is survived by: his wife Lynn Matthews; his children, Dana Dowling (Bob), LeAnn Waldrop (James) and Jason Matthews (Marsha Slayers Jones); his siblings, Joe Matthews (Charlotte), Jeanine Grubbs (Alan), Wayne Matthews (Mary Ann), Dave Matthews (Linda), Tony Matthews (Clark Robenstine), Sherri Snead (Anthony) and Billy Turner (Dayna Bowles); his grandchildren, Robert Dowling, Melissa Dowling, Crystal Turnage (Aaron), Zach Matthews (Stephanie Horton), Alexis Matthews (Justin Clevenger), Drew Schaffer (Myra), Marilyn Strickland (Andrew), Amanda Coxwell (Alan Phillips) and Angel Matthews; and his close friends, Lynn Munday and Keri Strong (Tad). He is also survived by great- grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
