He was predeceased by: his parents, Huey Underwood and Mary Underwood; his wife Ann Cosper Underwood; and his brothers, P. W. Underwood and George Underwood.

He is survived by: his daughter Marigale Lawing; his nephews, George Underwood and Phil Underwood; and his grandchild Lindsey Lawing.
