He was predeceased by: his wife Judy Hinton Bishop; and his sister Jeannine Bishop Patterson. He is survived by: his brother John Paul, Jr.; his children, Win Bishop (Tracy), Cindy Doody (John) of Birmingham and Elizabeth Bennett (Matt) of Nashville; his brother John Bishop of Atlanta; and his grandchildren, Courtney, Hinton Bishop, Margaret, Laura Doody, Olivia and Matthew Bennett.
The family suggests that any donations be made to the American Cancer Society or Dawson Memorial Baptist Church.
