He was predeceased by: his parent Ruth; and his son Brandon Smothers. He is survived by: his wife Connie Pate; his children, Whitney Pate Kiehn (Adam), Danny James Pate II (Lauren) and Daniel Smothers; his siblings, Dian Rominger Hankinson (Eric) and Dale Pate (Sissy Spath); his grandchildren, Erin Smothers, Gavin Smothers, Hayden Smothers, Carter Kiehn, Charlie Kiehn, Jaxon Pate and Sophie Kiehn; and his nieces and nephews, Shea Richardson, Jeff Rominger and Daniel Pate.
