He was predeceased by: his parents, Jesse James Ward and Alma Wilkinson Moore; his wife Virginia Bryan Ward; his son-in-law Robert Wilkinson; and his sister Ila Mae Sheffield.
He is survived by: his children, Jenita Wilkinson and Reverend James Earl "Buddy" Ward, Jr. (Charlene) of Blue Springs; his granddaughters, Lori Williams (Rodney) and Brittany Joyner (Michael); his great grandchildren, John Joyner and Joshua Joyner; and his brother Jimmy Shelley.
Visitation was held on Sunday, February 2nd 2025 from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM at the Shiloh Word Fellowship. A funeral service was held on Sunday, February 2nd 2025 at 2:30 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Sunday, February 2nd 2025 at 3:30 PM at the Shiloh Word Fellowship Cemetery.
