She was predeceased by: her husband A. L. "Slue" Layfield; her parents, George B. Simmons and Cora Bell Cosby Simmons; her son-in-law Wayne Ellis; her granddaughter Candace Rice; and her siblings, Robert, Lester, Odell, Ray, Odessa, Beatrice and Harriet.
She is survived by: her daughters, Linda Ellis, Gail Bynum (Bill) and Doris Wilson (Donny); her grandchildren, Jeffrey Ellis (Candy), Randy Bynum (Rachel), Kristi Thomas, Amanda Bynum (Randy Peoples), Kendra Compton and Brittny Glynn (Tim); her great grandchildren, Kala, Adam (Erica), Kourtney (Luke), Jessica (Adam), Katherine (Ethan), Cody (Taylor), Austin (Laney), Makenzie, Morgan (Mason), Graeson (Shiloh), Walker, William, Ryder and August; and her great great grandchildren, Bethany, Joseph, Beaux, Harrison, Riggs, Ellis Kate, Ezekiel, Lanie and Trey.
