He was predeceased by: his parents, James Zackie and Annie Bell Heath McLendon; his wife Carolyn Cook McLendon; and his siblings, Wilmer McLendon, Robert McLendon, Dowling McLendon, Henry McLendon, Ralph McLendon, Lee Ella Dykes, Maurine Olds, Dean Brown and Mamie Sue McLendon.
He is survived by: his daughters, Cara McLendon Griffin (Todd) of Auburn and Caryn McLendon Tyler (Sans) of Eufaula, Alabama; his siblings, Tommy McLendon (Sylvia) of Texasville, Alabama, Mary Kennedy of Eufaula and Joyce Johnson of Graham, Texas; and his grandchildren, Mack Goff (Emma), Callie Jay, Walker Jay, Hunter Jay, Hayden Jay, Emma Tyler, Grant Tyler and Addie Tyler.
Visitation was held on Friday, February 21st 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Clayton Baptist Church (30 N Midway St, Clayton, AL 36016). A funeral service was held on Friday, February 21st 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Friday, February 21st 2025 at 3:00 PM at the Clayton Cemetery.
