He was predeceased by: his wife Polly Gidley; his son Randy Gidley; and his siblings, Robert, Lester Gidley, Maybelle Lawson, Louise Deese, Polly Burt and Mary Lois Deese.

He is survived by: his children, Greg Gidley (Jennifer) of Ashland and Kelly Smith (Chris) of Clairmont Springs; his grandchildren, Jeff Gidley, Reagan Smith and Ayden Gidley; his great grandchild Briley Gidley; and his brother Dee Gidley of Able.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the funeral expenses for Charles or Randy.
