He was predeceased by: his parents, Ike Johnston, Jr. and Myrtle Weaver Johnston. He is survived by: his siblings, Alex Weaver (Liz), Patricia Rivers (Chip) and Diane "Tink" Helvin (John); his nephews, Alex James Weaver, Charles "Monk" Rivers (Penny) and Anthony Rivers (Laina); his niece Tricia Weaver (Derrick); his aunts, Irene Young and Virginia Roland; and his close friend Ola Mae Talebian.
