He was predeceased by: his father Charlie Rudolph Nelson (Rudy); his stepmother Mary Nelson; his sister-in-law Rhonda Nelson; and his mother-in-law Helen Thomas. He is survived by: his wife Connie Thomas Nelson; his children, Thomas Nelson, Brittany Nelson Parrott (Shane) and Calan Nelson Arias (Hemir); his mother Dot Nelson; his brothers, Scott Nelson and Randy Nelson Sr. (Woni); and his grandchildren, Caden, Harlyn and Hampton.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Childersburg First Baptist and Childersburg Kiwanis.
