He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert James Houston Sr. and Janie Brown-Houston; his wife Flora M. Houston; his daughter Nancy Houston-Holton; and his siblings, Annie L. Houston-Johnson, Helen Houston-Brown, Rose L. Houston, Benny R. Houston and Robert J. Houston, Jr..
He is survived by: his daughter Phyllis Houston-Cobb of Dallas, TX; his grandchildren, Felicia Holton, Davina Holton, Alicia Griffan, Devin Houston, Melissa Houston, Lawrence Holton and Melanie Griffan of Miami, FL; his sister-in-law Annie B. Davis; and his nieces and nephews, Phillip Houston, Dana Houston, Anthony Houston, Eric Houston, Lamar Houston, Reginald Mead, Kenneth Long, Marvin Long, Deborah Chatman, Janice Houston, Charlotte Campbell, Felicia Gunn, Sandra Hall, Gloria Bates, Patricia Crittenden and Shelia Holland. He is also survived by 22 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Friday, January 31st 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Thompson and Son Funeral Home (400 S Washington St, Tuscumbia, AL 35674). A funeral service was held on Saturday, February 1st 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Saturday, February 1st 2025 at the Watkins Cemetery.
