He was predeceased by: his parents, Wallace Eramus and Eleanor Singletary Hodges. He is survived by: his brother Richard Wayne Hodges; his son-in-law Edgar James Meche, Jr. (Gene); his wife Nancy Hodges; his children, James Eugene Hodges, Jr. (Cindy) of Rome, GA, Deborah Meche of Chelsea and Donald Ray Hodges (Christine) of Houston, TX; his grandchildren, Timothy Hodges, David Hodges, Sarah Cehand, Ellie Meche, Megan Hodges and Andrew Hodges; and his sister Donnis Geter of Slidell, LA. He is also survived by 5 great grandchildren.
