He was predeceased by: his parents, Slater B. Etheredge and Georgia Guy Etheredge; and his brother Slater B. "Porky" Etheredge Jr.. He is survived by: his wife Clarice Montgomery Etheredge; his children, Christi Etheredge Zito (Steve) and Randal Edward Etheredge Jr.; his stepchildren, Robert Montgomery (Dianne) and Betsy Montgomery Turner (Jerry); his sister Betty Sheffield; his grandchildren, Brooks Randal Smith, Bradley Thomas Smith (Mary), Bailey Mixon, Randal Edward Etheredge III (Cassie), Kendall Mehaffey (Kane), Zane Montgomery, Wyatt Montgomery and Brady Turner; and his great grandchildren, Bradley Thomas Smith Jr., McKenzie Marie Smith, Conyer Augustus Smith, Colton Joseph Smith, Piper Gray Mehaffey and Prim Adeline Mehaffey.
