With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Katherine Bethune of Centreville, Alabama, who passed away on December 24, 2024 at the age of 84. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Willie Aubrey Simpson and Eva Mae Beard Simpson; her husband Charles C. Bethune; her daughter Brenda Lynn Bethune; and her siblings, Willie Mae Durrett and Leroy Simpson.
She is survived by: her daughter Melinda Jean Bethune of Tuscaloosa; her grandson Michael Charles Lloyd Prewitt (Laura); her great grandchildren, Tristan Charles Prewitt and Gavin Sheppard Prewitt of Vestavia Hills, AL; and her siblings, Shirley Ann Holladay (Louis), Rose Ellen McMillian, Etoy Palmer, Loventrice Crossley and Troy Lee Simpson (Tommy). She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Saturday, December 28th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Dowdle Funeral Home (270 McAdams St, Millport, AL 35576). A funeral service was held on Saturday, December 28th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
