He was predeceased by: his siblings, Roxanne Jones and Kenny Gardner; his parents, Betty Holifield Foster and Marvin Holifield; and his stepfather Irby Foster.

He is survived by: his son Derek Gardner (Autumn); his grandchildren, Nathaniel and Natalie Nichols; his siblings-in-law, Roland Jones and Suzette Hood; his cousin Randy Cicero; his close friend Barry Newman; and his pet Fuzz. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews.
