With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Sara Ruth Hunter (Centre, Alabama), born in Cherokee, Alabama, who passed away on March 21, 2020 at the age of 83. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her husband Edward Thomas "Buck" Hunter; her siblings, James Abernathy (Mary Ann), Danny Abernathy (Noby), Jerry David Abernathy (Cobb), Wendell Abernathy (Betty), Henry Abernathy, Margie Bearden (Clay) and Betty Ann Abernathy; her grandson Brandon Gwin; her brother-in-law Raymond Slayton; and her parents, Mark Abernathy and Jessie Haggard Abernathy.
She is survived by: her siblings, Gwin Abernathy (Carolyn), Billy Wayne Abernathy, Dener Slayton, Marie Corbin (A. J.), Carol Abernathy and Callie Slayton; and her children, Howard Abernathy (Debra Kay) of Dianne Hooper, JM, Ralph Hunter, Billy Gene Hunter and Debra Gwin. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 20 step-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; several great nieces and nephews.
The family will accept flowers or donations may be made for funeral expenses.
