He was predeceased by: his wife Geraldine Messer; his son Ricky Lee O'Dell; his siblings, Rickey O'Dell, David O'Dell and Mary O'Dell; and his parents, Cecil O'Dell and Eva Grace Abernathy O'Dell.
He is survived by: his children, Keith McMurtrey, Gracie O'Dell, Evie McMurtrey (Donald McFry) and Lisa Davis (Lee Gardner Jr.); and his siblings, Robert King Jr., Larry King, Nickey O'Dell (Cassie) and Charolette Sexton (Clyde). He is also survived by several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
