He was predeceased by: his sister Theresa Gates; his uncle Owen; his aunt Ruth Gates; and his father Earl Pleasant Gates. He is survived by: his children, Wesley Gates (Torrie), Haley Gates (Clark Alves) and Hannah Gates (Jacob Price); his siblings, Earl Gates, Ken Gates and Ginger Lewis (Jeff); his granddaughter Kinzley; and his mother Lucy Stephens Gates. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews who he adored like his own children.
