He is survived by: his wife Betty J. Merchant; his children, James Douglas Merchant (Teresa), Sharron Lynette Merchant May (Alan) and David Allan Merchant (Myra); his grandchildren, Katherine Allaysia Merchant, Dustin Alan May, James Austin Reed Merchant, Maleigha La Shelle Panter (Andy), Dawson Lee Merchant (Amrie Jane), Alie Brooke May, C. J. Gurganus, Asher Lee Merchant, Everleigh Mae Panter, Jordan Glass, Jeremy Glass, Crystal Jackson and Donna Nix; his son Micheal Eugene Herron; and his close friend Faye Blankenship. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, friends.
