He was loved and cherished by many people including: his children, Deborah (Johnny), Beverly Ray (Michael) of Lafayette, AL, Voynell Shaw (Julius) of Camp Hill, AL, Angelo Vines of Dadeville, AL and Lydell Vines of Mobile, AL; his daughter-in-law Sarah Vines of LaGrange, GA; his siblings, Bennie Hughley of Camp Hill, AL, Larry (Barbara) of Camp Hill, AL and Claude (Annie Ruth) of Camp Hill, AL; his nephew Rufus Vines; and his son-in-law Julius Shaw. He was also cherished by ten grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; special caregiver.
