He was predeceased by: his son John Michael Dawson; his parents, Robert Lee Dawson, Sr. and Mildred Findley Dawson; and his siblings, Vann Dawson, Peggy Fant and Dianne Horton.
He is survived by: his wife Janice Bowden Dawson of Calera; his children, Amy Moss (Randal) of Chatom, AL and Robert Dawson of Birmingham; his granddaughters, Courtney Moss, Hailey Moss and Polly Dawson; and his siblings, Mary Lawson (Bill) of Alabaster, Liz Hodges (Brad) of Marietta, GA, Deborah Pilgreen (Jesse) of Alabaster and Stanley Dawson (Joi) of Montevallo. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and other friends.
