He was predeceased by: his parents, Willie Smith and Edith Smith; his former wife Shirley Porter Smith; his stepdaughter Janice Brannon; and his siblings, Huey Blalock, W. T. Blalock, J. T. Blalock, Junior Blalock, Alvis Blalock, Leach Shelton, Irene Blalock, Inez Ayres and Clara Bullard (Jack).
He is survived by: his wife Burnis Smith; his stepson Mike Thompson; his granddaughters, Lauren Thompson and Lindsey Thompson; his great grandchild Gabriella Mae Thompson; and his brothers, Charlie Blalock and Freddie Shelton. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
