He was predeceased by: his parents, James Golden and Gladys Golden; his wife Cathy Lee Cooper; and his sister Linda Hamm. He is survived by: his children, Brian Golden, Sarah Oden (Allen) and James Ward; his grandchildren, Patrick Golden, Asa Ward, Ashley Ward and Aaron Ward; and his sister Janice Sherman.

Visitation was held on Thursday, January 16th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Charter Funeral Home (2521 US-31, Calera, AL 35040). A funeral service was held on Thursday, January 16th 2025 at 6:00 PM at the same location.

He gave to just about any charity that approached him, anyone on the side of the road and bought anything a kid was selling.
