He was predeceased by: his parents, Clement Earnest Muck and Wava Ellen Ferris. He is survived by: his former wife Gretchen Rettlesdorf; his wife Alice Ahlstrom; his children, James "Ernie" Erickson (Terri), Susan E. Muck (Patty) and Monica Lee Duvall (Douglas D.); and his brother David C. Muck. He is also survived by seven grandchildren.

The family requests that donations be made to Shelby County Humane Society in Columbiana, Alabama.
