He was predeceased by: his daughter Denise McDowell; and his grandson Justin McDowell. He is survived by: his wife Jerry Bates; his daughters, Rhonda Sykes (Mike) and Cindy Crabb (Terry); and his grandchildren, Brandon Sykes (Kristen), Amanda Morris, Amber Richardson (C. J.), Cayla Weber (Patrick) and Jessica Franks (Jason). He is also survived by 11 great grandchildren.
