He was predeceased by: his parents, William Henry Charlton and Mattie Lou White Charlton; and his sisters, Lucille Charlton, Sara Lee Touchstone, Irene Charlton and Racheal Charlton.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Gayle Miles Charlton; his children, John Henry Charlton, Jr. (Amanda), William Dale Charlton (Tanya), Donna Gayle Charlton Smith (John) and Wendy Lynn May (Michael); and his sisters, Shirley Butts and Ruby Charlton. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and a host of other family members and friends.
