He was predeceased by: his wife Carolyn Ward Thompson; and his sons, William Key Thompson, Jr. and Stephen Ard Thompson. He is survived by: his daughter-in-law Ruth Thompson of Springhill; his grandchildren, Michael Thompson (Sarah) of Birmingham and Melissa Bradford (David) of Springhill; his great grandchildren, Carolyn Thompson, K. C. Bradford, Will Thompson and Dawson Bradford; and his close friend Nanette Williams.
