He was predeceased by: his parents, James D. Thompson and Ida Taylor Thompson; his wives, Eula, Norma and Marjorie; his siblings, James W. Thompson, William C. Thompson and Elma Jo Williamson Adcock; his grandson Sean Thompson; his son-in-law Jim Rutherford; and also Edna.
He is survived by: his children, John Thompson, Jr. (Marie) of Ruskin, FL, Laurie Hild (Rob) of Union City, TN and Linda Rutherford of Hendersonville, NC; and his grandchildren, James (Mary Jane), Sara (Keith), Maghan (Rob), Milan (Lei) and Alexander. He is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren.
