He was predeceased by: his parents, William Anderson Carter and Mattie Irene Dyess Carter; his wife Irene Bradford Carter; and his siblings, Sam Carter, Richard Carter, Lucille Carter Fleming, Nina Carter Adams, Eloise Carter Herrington, Molly Carter Evens, Francis Carter Thompson, Max Carter (Betty), Gene Carter (Betty) and Jimmy Carter (Martha).
He is survived by: his children, Mary Ann Flowers (Larry Ross) of Troy, Olivia Spurlin (Gary) of Troy and Allois Flowers (Maria); his grandchildren, Ramona Spurlin, Leah Spurlin, Rachel Hooper (Brian) and Audra; his great grandchildren, Matthew Hooper of Troy, Joey Hooper of Troy, Connor of Shiloh and Luke Bass of Shiloh; and his brother Billy Carter (Joan). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
