He was predeceased by: his parents, Ellwyn Leonard Gibbs and Verna Whitley Gibbs; his brother Tom Gibbs; and his son Jerry Leonard Gibbs Jr. (Len). He is survived by: his wife Kathryn Pruett Gibbs; his sons, Cary Pruett Gibbs (Diane) and Dale Lee Gibbs (Teresa); his daughter-in-law Athelia Gibbs; his grandchildren, Andrew S. Gibbs (Rita), Joy Gibbs and Brent Lee Gibbs; and his great grandchildren, Madison Gibbs and Gavin Green. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
