He was predeceased by: his parents, Hugh Shepard and Annie Laura Shepard; and his siblings, Jay Shepard, Melvin Shepard and Maxine Hollingsworth.

He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth "Sissie" Shepard; his children, Darlynn Hooks (Mike) of Hoover and David Shepard (Judy) of Mt; and his grandchildren, Lauren Shepard and Brandon Shepard.
