It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James Truxton Avery (Brookwood, Alabama), who passed away on June 6, 2019, at the age of 90, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, James Edward and Ila Ovie Avery; his wife Myrtle Avery; his sons, Duane Avery and Lee Avery; and his siblings, Gaines Dale Avery and Ila Marie Avery.

He is survived by: his children, Alisa Green (Terry) of Wetumpka, Ala, Jill Avery of Memphis, Tenn. and Tom Avery (Amanda) of Brookwood.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital and Southern Care Beacon Hospice.
