She was predeceased by: her parents, John Matthews and Stella Gamble Matthews; and her siblings, Luke Matthews, Bain Matthews, Tony Matthews, Geneva Lemmons, Louise Bennett, Edna Whitfield and Doccie Hughes.

She is survived by: her brother Don Matthews of Chattanooga, TN. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
