Cindy Jane Dixon Obituary

The family of Cindy J. Dixon, age 57, takes comfort knowing that an angel was sent July 9th at 3:40 a.m., to escort her to the presence of God our Heavenly Father.

Cindy is a Brewton native and was a member of W.S. Neal High School, Class of 1983. Upon graduation, she enlisted in the United States Air Force, and began a very successful career working as an Information Manager. She served for 20 years, retiring as a Master Sergeant. Upon her military retirement, she continued to work for the government, but this time as a Financial Manager. In 2017, Cindy returned to Brewton to be close to and assist in the care of her mother, Jane Dixon.

Cindy had a very special love for Senior Citizens. Prior to the start of her declining health, she could often be found volunteering at the East Brewton Senior Citizen Center, or going to local businesses to solicit contributions for their cause. There was just something so extraordinary about her that brought a smile to each of the seniors faces. In 2022, Cindy recommitted her life to the Lord, and proved herself to be a true Christian warrior. She was a member of the Damascus Baptist Church, and would often take notes from Bible Study or Sunday's Sermon and post it on the Church's Facebook page, along with a daily Bible verse.

She was preceded in death by her loving mother, Jane Dixon. She is survived by her husband of 23-years, Pat Uptmor; her father, Tommy Dixon, Brewton; her sons Nathan Dixon (Savannah), Mossy Head FL and Seth Coale (Erin), Woodstock GA. She is also survived by her brothers, Tommy Gene Dixon (Tina), Panama City Fl and Lance Dixon (Kim), Brewton. She has one grandson, Ayden, who she absolutely adores.

Cindy's request was to be cremated with no service.

The family would like to thank Southern Hospice, especially nurses Ruth Sims and Doris Watson for their loving care. A special thanks goes out to her sister-in-law and dear friend, Kim Dixon, who showed great compassion to Cindy, especially towards this journey's end, and her brother Lance, who was always "Johnny on the Spot" when needed.

Last but not least, the family thanks the Damascus Baptist Church family, and their Pastor Steve Yuhasz and his wife Tami. Not a day went by without them checking on Cindy and praying for her. We will all miss her, but are relieved that because of her faith she will have a wonderful eternal life.
