He was predeceased by: his parents, Ray Mathis and GayNell Mathis; his father-in-law Evon McSwain; and his brother Ronnie Mathis. He is survived by: his wife Angie Mathis; his children, Laressa Johnson (Brett), An'Drea Huff (Steven) and Kaytlyn Shadix (Ethan); his grandchildren, Cooper Johnson, Collins Johnson, Analyn Huff, Ayla Kate Huff, Gray Shadix and Weston Shadix; his mother-in-law Allie McSwain Cordes; and his siblings, Buster Mathis (Cathy), Marlene Garmon (Leon), Darlene McSwain (Phillip), Tommy Mathis (Karen), Tina Turner (Frank), Lisa Campbell (Larry) and Cherrie Miller (Gary). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Visitation was held on Friday, February 7th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Ryans Creek Baptist Church (24849 County Rd 222, Bremen, AL 35033). A funeral service was held on Saturday, February 8th 2025 at 10:00 AM and at 1:00 PM at the same location. The lying in state was held on Saturday, February 8th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the same location.
