He was predeceased by: his wife Roselie Langford Gaines; his son Jeffrey Brian Gaines; his parents, Walter N. Gaines and Ruthie Mae Carr Gaines; and his siblings, Q. P. Gaines, Donnie Hue "Hootie" Gaines and Lily Gaines Savell.
He is survived by: his children, Debora Colquett (Tommy) and Ken Gaines (Norlie); his grandchildren, Dana Wallace (Parker), Christina Massenburg (Nick) and Walter Aller Gaines; his great grandchild Kyte Wallace; and his siblings, Ruth Mount, Margie Prescott, Sara Lou Sewell, Bob Gaines and Nick Gaines (Betty). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
