She was predeceased by: her parents, Willie Coston and Florene Stricklan Godwin; and her siblings, Billy Godwin, Edward Godwin and Linda Godwin.

She is survived by: her pet Precious; her husband John E. "Pete" Johnson; her son Michael; her daughter-in-law Alexa Johnson; and her grandson Coston Johnson.
