He was predeceased by: his parents, James H. Sr. Hollis and Winnie Turner Hollis; and his sister Winnie Faye Hollis Lee. He is survived by: his wife Peggy Shannon Hollis; his daughters, Elizabeth "Betsy" Hollis Walker (Kevin) and Shannon Hayslip; his grandchildren, Stuart Mash (Maggie), Margaret Mash Holm (Jeff), Lee Hayslip (Katie), Max Hayslip and Meg Hayslip; his great grandchildren, Lizzie Holm, Thomas Holm, Hollis Holm and Sylvie Hayslip; and his sister Abbie Lou Bryan.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests any memorial donations be made to Brantley United Methodist Church.
