He was predeceased by: his former wife Arlene Walker Smith; his parents, Willie B. Smith, Sr. and Martha W. Smith; and his sister Vicki S. Furr. He is survived by: his wife Nancy Layton Smith; his children, Kimberly Hall (Bill) and Eldrid S. Smith Jr. (Brandy); his stepchildren, Natalie Bradley (Troy) and Jonathan Helms (Morgan); his grandchildren, Dawson Hall, Nellie Ann Smith and Elijah Paul Smith; his stepgrandchildren, Leighla Kirchharr, Raley Bradley, Lillie Bradley, John Layton Helms, Lolabeth Helms and Lottie Helms; and his siblings, Willie B. Smith Jr. (June), Thomas S. Smith Sr. (Brenda) and Paul B. Smith (Lori). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
